GEOSCIENCE EDUCATION RESEARCH

Geoscience Education Research (GER) focuses on questions related to the teaching and learning of the geosciences, often with a focus on undergraduate classrooms. Some GER consider learning in K-12 or informal settings, like museums, as well. The commonality between all GER research is the focus on understanding how people learn geoscience, and how instruction can be modified to improve understanding, attitudes, or behavior.

In the GRL, we conduct research in a wide variety of settings, and with a broad view of what it means to learn and teach. Work has been conducted in traditional undergraduate settings or in K-12 classrooms, in face-to-face or completely online settings, on traditional instruction and non-traditional interactions.
